Protest against China in Kathmandu

-

Kathmandu, 18 September: A group of political activists has organised a protest demonstration at Maitighar Mandala blaming China for encroaching Nepali territory at Hilsa in Humla District.

To note, the alliance government has sent a fact-finding team to Hilsa to inspect whether the Chinese side has encroached on Nepali territory or not.

The same day when the government team reached Hilsa, the Loktantrik Youth Organisation, a sister organization of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party led by Mahantha Thakur, has organised a protest demonstration at Maitighar Mandala on Friday, 17 September, alleging China for encroaching Nepali territory at Hilsa, reports Jana Aastha News. Mukesh Jha, Ranjit Kumar Singh, among other youths belonging to the Thakur and Rajendra Mahato led party, had chanted slogans against China.

Last year, the government led by K.P. Sharma Oli had sent a fact-finding team to Hilsa to inspect the border situation. Following the report submitted by the team, the Foreign Ministry had issued a press release clarifying that there was no border encroachment from the Chinese side. Without studying the previous reports, the new government has again sent a fact-finding team to Hilsa, which has demonstrated the childish manner of the present coalition government. Also, without receiving any authentic reports regarding border encroachment from the Chinese side, organizing protest programmes against the friendly country is just propaganda to defame China, say political observers.
