SC rejects issuing interim order on Ghising’s appointment

The Supreme Court has refused to issue interim order on a writ petition filed against the appointment of KulmanGhising as the director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

Hearing the writ petition on Tuesday, a single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana refused to issue interim order to void Ghising’s appointment as demanded by the writ petitioner. On August 16, former executive director HitendraDevShakya had filed a writ petition in the SC demanding withdrawal of Ghising’s appointment. Meanwhile, the Top Court has issued a show-cause order regarding Shakya’s removal and Ghising’s appointment to the position.
