The war based economy

- PR PRadhan pushparajpradhan@gmail.com

After completing my Diploma course from the Mahendra Ratna Multiple Campus, Ilam, I came to Kathmandu. The purpose of my Kathmandu visit was not for further study, but to fight a case against a rustication on me by the Campus. I had already completed four semesters of the Diploma course, meanwhile, when I oppose misdeeds by a Campus teacher I was rusticated for three years. In fact, it was politics. I was actively involved in the then proestablishment student organization and the Ilam Campus had become the centre for carrying out communist activities. In this regard, I was victimized. It took almost one year for getting justice in that case. After wasting one year, following the clean chit from the University, I joined the Tribhuvan University Central Campus to study the Degree course in Economics. When I started my Masters's level, I had already started publication of the Samrachana vernacular weekly. My job was continuing study along with publishing a newspaper. Meanwhile, it was an internal assessment examination on International Economics. The question was related to the dominance of US dollars. Instead of answering based on the course book, I described the global US dollars’ dominance due to the US policy based on the war economy. I had also described the petro-dollar and Japanese Yan. Professor Dr Parthibeswar Timilsina was the subject teacher. He appeared with the answer paper and exhibited my answer paper asking who was the student of that paper! I stood up and replied, “Sir, this is my paper!” He commended me and illustrated the answer for other students saying that the recent global developments should also be studied by students.

Understandably, American policy has not been changed. To flourish the American economy, there should be war in any part of the globe so that the American arms industries will get business.

The debt-ridden American economy was facing a serious risk and the arms industries were facing a heavy loss, in the meantime, the war on Iraq was launched. The American arms are used in such wars and the NATO member countries will bear the cost of these arms.

The Americans dragged Russia into a war on Ukraine. There is no involvement of the US Army but American arms are being supplied to Ukraine. They are not on a grant. The NATO members are also supplying arms to Ukraine with an agreement of replacement with more sophisticated arms from the USA.

Now, the Americans are provoking China into a war on Taiwan. Speaker of the Lower House of the US, Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan as per the American war strategy.

The American intention is to drag China into a prolonged war, to know the advancement made by China on war equipment and to examine the strength of the Chinese PLA. Even if there will be war between China and Taiwan, the Americans will not go to Taiwan to help the Taiwanese.

In the war between Russia and Ukraine, the Americans have got the opportunity to know the arms developed by Russia and its military strength free of cost.

The Americans have violated its earlier stance on the “one China policy”. It means business interests are above other interests.

When China is emerging as the largest economy on the globe, the American plan is to keep engaging China in her domestic affairs by creating internal disturbance within the country.

Many things are interlinked between the USA and China. Otherwise, China holds the capacity to destroy the American money market immediately. Meanwhile, the Russia-Ukraine war has also become costly for the USA as the US dollar is gradually losing its global dominance. Also, chances are high for disputes between the USA and the EU countries. Surely, the global impact of the Russia-Ukraine war could be negative and Nepal-like countries may face serious economic crises, the European countries are not aloof from such a crisis, including the crisis of petroleum products. As the winter season is in the offing, many of the European countries may suffer a scarcity of petroleum products and also a food crisis.

Maybe, the USA is far ahead in the arms race and it has also benefited from the war, it seems sure that the USA is going to lose its unilateral dominance in the globe. In the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian side is seen as weak in the propaganda war as there is seen western dominance in media. However, during the Cold War era, there was a rivalry between the then USSR and China. Now, both Russia and China are together for multiracialism and perhaps the European countries and other countries that sided with the USA will understand the value and significance of multiracialism in the days to come!
