Gloomy picture

Why the Narayanhitti bloodbath took place; why Nepal had to suffer the 10-year-long bloody insurgency; why the 12-point Delhi agreement was inked among the seven parliamentarian parties and the terrorist declared Maoists under the Indian security in the Indian capital city; why Nepal was declared a federal, secular and republic nation, all answers are in front of us today. Nepal failed to construct the Arun 3 hydropower project despite a soft loan offered by the World Bank, Japan and Germany, among other countries. Three decades later, it was handed over to the Indian company. The Upper Karnali project has already gone to the Indians. Now, the West Seti and Seti-6 projects have been handed over to the Indians. We don’t say India should not come to work in Nepal but we oppose our own political leaders and the government why Nepal has handed over such reservoir model key projects to India without global competition? Why Nepal didn’t claim her water right? We still remember that when Parliament was preparing for ratification of the Mahakali Treaty, some leaders were saying that the sun would rise from West Nepal. Some leaders were saying that Nepal would become an economically prosperous nation with the rise in the Nepali currency price just double that of the Indian currency. Our editorial team decided to support the Mahakali Treaty with the conclusion that we should accept the decision of the majority in Parliament. Today, we feel, we were been fooled. With all of India serving political parties and their leaders, Nepal is losing its opportunity in all sectors. A naked game has been witnessed in Parliament on ratifying the citizenship amendment bill. Earlier, we saw Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s wife Arju Deuba’s India visit followed by the visit of Maoist Center chair Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda and their joint meeting with an Indian leader in Delhi. Immediately after their return and even after the announcement of the election date, the caretaker election government decided to run Parliament and decided to ratify one after another important bill which was kept pending for years. Oddly, the government decided to take back the already registered and already discussed in detail by the MPs on the proposed citizenship amendment bill and decided to present a new bill through a fast track. After ratification of the bill by both the houses, when it was rejected by the President and sent back to Parliament for reconsideration, the House, challenging the President, decided to send the bill without reconsideration. The political parties have ultimately demonstrated their real India-serving attitude in a naked manner. The leaders in the five-party alliance have become ready to exchange long-impacting national interests just for power. How cheap have the politicos become in the country? Surely, a nation will suffer when the politicos will see their gains. When the politicos wish to become rulers rather than the servant of the nation and the people, it becomes easy for the foreign powers to achieve their goals! Oddly, despite the naked anti-national acts of the politicos, the Nepali nationals are in a deep sleep pushing the nation towards a gloomy state!
