Unholy, unnatural alliance to loot the nation

- By P.R. Pradhan

What is the significance of developing an election front to contest the 20 November elections by different five parties, we are unaware. We just know that those crooked, outdated, cunning, self-centred political leaders have attempted to develop a syndicate to loot the nation. Moreover, it makes clear that those established political parties have become infamous among the voters as the leaders always tried to cheat and deceive them. A wave in favour of the independent candidates that was witnessed in the local election has become a threat to the political leaders, who all are involved in a massive level of corruption and commission deals. Therefore, they needed to develop an election front for ensuring their victory. To secure the victory, the partners in the five-party alliance have even tried to please their Indian bosses. Efforts for an amendment to the citizenship law through a consensus among the five alliance partners are an example that they are even ready to do everything for their benefit i.e. enjoying power as much as possible. They even didn’t try to study the impact of such a sensitive issue on the country in the long run.

A big loss to the NC:

The Nepali Congress, a party having a long political history, will become further weak when its leaders don’t allow to vote on the NC’s election symbol again and again to its voters. May be, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba or senior leader Ramchandra Poudel or Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand or influential leaders Bimalendra Nidhi and others will have personal benefit from the present five-party alliance, much more benefits that will be enjoyed by Maoist Center chair Pushpakamal Dahal, Unified Socialist Party’s Madhav Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party’s Upendra Yadav and some others. If contested election alone, neither Prachanda nor Nepal nor Yadav can secure their victory. Therefore, they are hanging behind the NC’s support for their victory. Meanwhile, when the party supremo Deuba tried to impose his dictatorship in the party, there is a situation of revolt in the party. After the submission of the list of the proportional candidates including Deuba’s wife Arzu, Khand’s wife, Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Sharan Mahat and other members of the kitchen cabinet of Deuba, many party workers have become furious. The dissident faction in the NC may contribute to weakening the party further.

Puranjan Acharya, a close observer in the NC has already warned that the Nepali Congress is going to become further weak if the party leadership joins hands with the communist force by discarding the party’s fundamental principles. Dr Sekhar Koirala camp has emerged in the Nepali Congress against totalitarian leadership performed by Deuba. This faction may emerge as a strong group within the NC, moreover, the election result may not be favourable for the fiveparty alliance if this faction performs non-cooperation during the election.

In the Maoist Center also, a section has become dissatisfied with the party leadership as the party, forgetting the fundamental principle, has decided to develop an alliance under the leadership of the NC, which is known to be the class enemy force for the party.

Maoist Center leaders of Dhankuta have resigned en masse expressing dissatisfaction against the party leadership.

All Maoist leaders in Dhankuta resigned en masse, deciding to field politburo member Hemraj Bhandari as an independent candidate. This is an indication of to what extent the party workers have been frustrated by the party leadership.
