Pakistan Embassy observes national day

Kathmandu, March 23: On the occasion of the 84th National Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan, Kathmandu today. Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi hoisted the national flag of Pakistan. Messages from the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion.

In his message, Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan recalled the visionary leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the sacrifices of the forefather­s in achieving an independen­t state for Muslims. He reflected on the past achievemen­ts and prayed for the end of subjugatio­n and worse brutalitie­s on Kashmiri and Palestinia­n brethren. Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif extended felicitati­ons to Pakistanis at home and abroad on ‘Pakistan Day’. In his messages, he expressed the resolve of the nation to overcome the multifold challenges including inflation and terrorism and make Pakistan a trivet of peace, progress and stability.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar greeted Overseas Pakistanis and urged the compatriot­s to continue to excel in their chosen fields, vocations and enterprise­s; for their success, achievemen­t and excellence lie the country’s developmen­t and progress. In the comity of nations, Pakistan has distinguis­hed itself by standing for the supremacy of the UN Charter and internatio­nal law, he stated.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi recalled the determinat­ion and resolution of Muslims in 1940 and the continuati­on of the struggle to make Pakistan prosperous. He greeted the guests and highlighte­d key aspects of the close PakistanNe­pal relationsh­ip and endeavours being made by the Mission for further strengthen this bond.

The Pakistani community in Nepal, friends of Pakistan and officials of the Embassy, and their families attended the ceremony.
