LOCAL ALCOHOL POLICY
Public hearings for the Provisional Auckland Council Local Alcohol Policy (LAP) started on Monday. The hearings will be at the Auckland District Court over three weeks. The LAP aims to help minimise alcohol-related harmacross the region and influence where new alcohol licences are allowed to establish, how many new alcohol licences are allowed and when bars, restaurants and nightclubs can sell alcohol. Auckland Council consulted on its draft policy in 2014 and considered nearly
2,700 written submissions and more than 100 oral submissions before adopting the provisional policy in May 2015.
