Mission possible

In a bid to fight the growing impact our diets have on the environment, an American company called Impossible Foods has successfully created a meat-free burger patty that looks, smells, tastes and cooks like beef. A study this year by the Oxford Martin School at Oxford University predicted that emissions caused by food production and other agriculture would within 30 years consume approximately half the world’s carbon budget. By simply reducing our meat consumption to the levels recommended by health guidelines, we could reduce this impact by up to a third. For all the meat lovers among us, foods like the ‘Impossible burger’ will make this easier.
