Our Olympians did us proud

I have such great admiration for all Olympic competitors, no matter where they come from, as they are all working towards a dream... and reading the story on Our Olympic Hopefuls [August issue] inspired me with pride and joy! New Zealand is a small nation, in the big scheme of things, so it was exciting to see how our athletes, swimmers, rowers and other competitors really showed their mettle in not only their abilities but also in their behaviour at Rio. Unless you have been there, living in an Olympic village, it’s really difficult to imagine what stresses and trials they faced each day. From my armchair, I avidly watched our Olympians following their dreams, and know I am not alone in saying we are a proud nation. ISABEL ASHMORE
