Fatigued
More than half of New Zealand doctors and dentists employed in our public hospitals are tired and exhausted on the job, according to a new study by the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists. It has revealed the country’s top medical professionals are battling high levels of burnout due to intense and unrelenting workloads, under-staffing, onerous on-call duties and frustrations with management. As a result of the study, the association is approaching District Health Boards to discuss the issue and investigate solutions.
