Harvest

-

Make a big batch of pesto from end-of-season basil. Freeze to store.

• If your tomatoes have succumbed to blight, cut your losses. Cut the vines and hang in a warm shed to ripen any remaining green trusses of fruit.

• Pears should be ripened off the tree for 2-3 weeks. When they’re almost mature and ready to pick, the stems will snap easily at the joint just above the fruit.

• Save sunflower seeds to feed to birds in winter.
