Protect citrus trees from Jack Frost’s icy fingers. Spray with organic wax-based liquid frost cloth (apply every 6-8 weeks) or cover with loosely draped polyethylene.

• Cover your compost heap with a plastic tarpaulin or carpet offcuts to keep the rain off. Cold, wet compost soon stops breaking down.

• Slippery when wet? Apply moss and mould killer to timber decks and paved patios.
