Right tree, wrong place? If landscapin­g projects mean you need to shift large plants, do it now while they’re dormant. Trim branches back by a third then use a sharp spade to root prune about 50cm out from the trunk before levering out the rootball. Stake well. Water regularly the first summer after replanting.
