Sow and plant

Sow heritage tomato seeds in trays of seed-raising mix under a cloche or in a glasshouse. Try Aunt Ruby’s German Green, Black Krim, Brandywine and Oxheart.

• Sprinkle mesclun seed mix for spring salads. Sow thickly in containers to snip as baby greens in 3-4 weeks, or in trenches under a plastic tunnel outdoors.

• Plant punnets of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, lettuce and spring onion seedlings.

• Sow sweet peas.
