Sow and plant

Plant certified virus-free seed potatoes in trenches and mound up the soil. New season’s potatoes such as Jersey Benne and Cliff Kidney can be planted 40cm apart but main croppers such as Agria or Summer Delight need 60-80cm each. Note: too much compost causes scabby skins.

• Sow beetroot, carrots, coriander and Florence fennel.

• Keep sowing capsicums, chillies, eggplants and tomatoes in pots indoors.
