Feed fortnightly with liquid fertiliser, and water daily when it gets hotter. • Sow Genovese Giant basil for pesto – it has the largest leaves. For salads, sow the cute Greek Mini or Mrs Burns Lemon basil, which has a zesty citrus flavour. • Plant and stake grafted eggplants and mulch around them with sawdust.
