Rich in texture, this country retreat has been home to three generations, writes Bronwyn Phillips.

Even though the living room is mainly where the family gather, it is the sitting room (see overleaf) that is Georgie’s favourite at Heatherly. “The floral panels are Roman blinds, and the portrait is of my mother-in-law, Barbara,” she says. “Barbara had a huge passion for painting and some of the watercolours were done by her.”
