If I had to choose another career I would be…

A psychiatrist. I find human beings endlessly fascinating – although my patients could risk ending up in a script. Perhaps if I had them sign some sort of waiver it would be okay.

The item I would save from a fire is…

In

some ways it’d be refreshing to save nothing and start all over again. Although I’m sure I’d feel differently if I was standing on the road outside my blazing inferno of a house wearing nothing but the clothes on my back. So one, my son, two, the cat and then I’d start throwing paintings and books out the windows. And the piano.

The TV show I loved to binge watch is…

It would have to be a toss-up between Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

The people I admire the most…

Are my parents. It might sound corny, but having just lost my father, whom I adored, and having just worked so closely with my cherished mother’s work 16 years after her death, I’m struck time and time again by what fabulous people they were. A wonderful couple, super smart, seriously funny and so utterly supportive of each other and their three children.

I can never leave the house without…

Going back inside at least two times to get things I’ve forgotten or to check I locked the front door, or turned off the stereo, or closed the wood burner door.

My biggest inspiration is…

My son Theo. Ever since he was born I’ve been inventing ways to make a living that don’t involve having an actual nine-to-five job, so I can be home when he gets home, and go on all the school trips. Although now he’s 12, there’s a chance I could become embarrassing, so if he starts circling things in the situations vacant for me, I’ll know it’s time to back off.

The three words I would use to describe me are…

Funny, curious, enthusiastic.

The quality I admire most in people is…

Generosity – and not just of money, but time and spirit. And when they do something selfless, not to make a big song and dance about it.
