HAYLEY’S FINAL SCENES

Hayley Cropper made British soap history the moment she arrived on the Street as the first transgender character. Viewers took the red-anorak-wearing character to their hearts as, over the years, she married bumbling Roy Cropper, took over the café Roy’s Rolls with him and later became a foster parent. Hayley’s decision to end her life – after being diagnosed with terminal cancer – was one of the show’s most heartbreaking moments. In the poignant 2014 episode, Hayley makes herself a lethal cocktail, Roy plays one of their favourite pieces of music, and they sit together on their bed as Hayley drinks her cocktail, eventually dying in her beloved Roy’s arms.
