Bet Lynch leaves
No matter what way Bet Lynch left Coronation Street, there was always going to be some leopard print involved. Everyone’s favourite barmaid, who wore leopard like no one else, bowed out in 1995 after a dispute over the Rovers Return, which she had been managing for five years. When the brewery decided to sell the Rovers, Bet couldn’t come up with the large sum they demanded and asked friend Rita Sullivan and stepgranddaughter Vicky for help. Upset when they refused, she left Weatherfield in the back of a taxi, destination unknown.
