Our fe­line friends are much bet­ter for our health than we may have thought. Aside from be­ing great com­pany and re­liev­ing stress, a study has found they are great for heart health. The Jour­nal of Vas­cu­lar and In­ter­ven­tional Neu­rol­ogy has re­ported on a link found be­tween cat own­er­ship and a de­creased risk of dy­ing from a heart at­tack or stroke. Just the sound of a cat’s purr has a calm­ing ef­fect that low­ers blood pres­sure.
