SUCCESSION (SKY/NEON) Starring Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin

It came as no surprise to me that Succession is the brainchild of In the Loop and The Thick of It writer Jesse Armstrong. This 10-episode first season is a roller-coaster of fast, dark, brutal humour and I loved every second of it. Brian Cox plays ageing media mogul Logan Roy, head of one of the largest, most ruthless media conglomerates in America. His heir apparent, eldest son Kendall, is girding his loins to take over from Daddy, but it all goes badly when Logan collapses and starts knock knock knocking on heaven’s door. This breakneckpace, modern-day fable is searing with social commentary, reeking of filial politics and is just ridiculously entertaining. Prepare to binge accordingly.
