HEALTH NEWS:
five habits for a longer life
Never too late
Just five key habits hold the key to a longer, healthier life, according to new Harvard research studying thousands of adults.
● Don’t smoke
● Exercise 30 minutes daily
● Keep a healthy BMI below 25
● Drink moderately
● Eat a healthy diet
Those who adopted all five habits at age 50 lived many years longer – 14 for women and 12 for men. And crucially, a follow-up study showed they also lived well. The women gained up to 12 years free of diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer, while men enjoyed up to 10.
