Q: What happens in a bone density scan?

-

A: Often referred to as a DEXA scan, you lie down on a bed, fully clothed. A large scanning arm then passes over your body to measure bone density with narrow beams of low-dose X-rays, which pass through the part of your body being examined. The process takes about 10 minutes.
