Debut author Hannah Bent was born and raised in Hong Kong. She studied film first in London and then in Australia, and completed a master’s in Creative Writing at Sydney’s University of Technology. “I’ve always been drawn to forms of creative expression, but I particularly love writing and the capacity words have to linger in one’s heart and mind long after they are read,” she tells The Weekly. When Things Are Alive They Hum took more than a decade to write, and in 2013 Hannah was awarded the Ray Koppe Young Writers’ Award for the novel as a work in progress. Hannah is currently working on her second novel.
