When former librarian Mim Squires flies back to Fremantle from the UK following her annual visit to her sister Alice, she suspects it’s the last time she’ll make the tortuous journey. She was born in England but increasingly has fallen out of love with her homeland. Changing planes at Doha, she meets Mathias Vander, a well-known writer who is also heading back home to Australia. After a few hours in the air, a passenger falls dangerously ill, forcing the plane to turn back, and while stranded in Doha Mim and the usually reserved Matthias – both in their late 70s – discover an easy bond. Back in WA, family dramas plague both protagonists, but can our duo forge a future together? We so want them to ... a truly heartwarming tale.
