Malala’s big year
“Some Latin was said and apparently I have a degree.” And
with those words, female education champion and Taliban
shooting survivor Malala Yousafzai graduated from Oxford. The momentous occasion
came two weeks after Malala married her “best friend” Asser Malik. Malala has previously expressed reticence about marriage. She knew girls who were married as young as 14. After meeting Asser, she concluded, “I believe that I can enjoy friendship, love and equality
in marriage.”
