Tempeh is made from fermented soybeans, giving a naturally nutty flavour, while tofu is made from condensed soy milk, which attributes its mild flavourless taste. We used tasty tempeh, available from major supermarkets and health food stores. For crisp tempeh bacon bits, do not line oven tray before baking. Tempeh bacon bits will keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week in the fridge and are great sprinkled over salads or on top of pizzas. Use real bacon if you prefer. Serve with a crisp cos lettuce salad dressed with extra virgin olive oil and sherry vinegar.
