Vil­lage choir in the mood for love

LOVE was in the air at Bayswa­ter re­tire­ment vil­lage ear­lier this month.

The vil­lage choir put on a con­cert singing songs of love and po­etry ded­i­cated to the theme of love.

Moods of Love­was per­formed

by the 40-strong choir who came dressed in their finest.

They belted out clas­sic love

songs such as I Just Called to Say I Love You, Let me be the One, Yes­ter­day, Country Road, Close your Eyes, Magic Mo­ments and more.

Choirmem­bers ranged in age from 70, 80 through to 90s.

Coreen Gray, 94, from the Ori­ana Singers was on the pi­ano. She mas­tered the 16 new songs es­pe­cially for Moods of Love.

Choir con­duc­tor was Shirley Paul who has organised seven ma­jor pro­duc­tions at Bayswa­ter al­ready.

Res­i­dent Brian Cot­ter says each pro­duc­tion usu­ally in­volves or­gan­is­ing up to 50 res­i­dents in var­i­ous roles tomake it hap­pen.

The songs were in­ter­spersed with po­etry of the heart as well.
