Birthday for arts fair
“Creatives” from all over the Bay of Plenty are invited to join the first birthday celebration for theAffordable Art & Artisan Fair in Whakamarama.
Katikati artist and event co-ordinator Birgitt Shannon has been involved since day one.
“In the last year our numbers have doubled. We have become friends who look forward to spending the day together, sharing ideas and creativity. I’m so proud of our dedicated team of volunteerswho work very hard to make the fair a success.” Original stallholders include jeweller Deb Bowden, barista Barb Hudson, woodworker Glenn Poultney, textile artisan Maria Gillgren, furniture makers Paulette Robinson and Ray Zander, glass engraver Rex Linder, chocolate maker Pauline Taylor, photographer Brenda Butler and mixed media artist Sharnie Riley.
“This month for our birthday there will be party hats and decorations and we are raffling a delicious homemade cake, a voucher for an hour’s treatment by De La Vie at Mount Maunganui and a pinata filled with lollies.”
The fair’s founderwas ARTbop Online Arts Magazine editor Rosemary Baluwho wanted to provide a place where artists and artisans could sell creations in a relaxed environment .
The fair is at The Black Sheep Bar & Grill, 21 Plummers Point Rd, Whakamarama on the last Sunday ofeach month, 11am-3pm (and December 16). The birthday celebration is on November 25. Contact [email protected] or the Facebook page.
