Birth­day for arts fair

“Creatives” from all over the Bay of Plenty are in­vited to join the first birth­day cel­e­bra­tion for theAf­ford­able Art & Ar­ti­san Fair in Whaka­ma­rama.

Katikati artist and event co-or­di­na­tor Bir­gitt Shan­non has been in­volved since day one.

“In the last year our num­bers have dou­bled. We have be­come friends who look for­ward to spend­ing the day to­gether, shar­ing ideas and cre­ativ­ity. I’m so proud of our ded­i­cated team of vol­un­teer­swho work very hard to make the fair a suc­cess.” Orig­i­nal stall­hold­ers in­clude jew­eller Deb Bowden, barista Barb Hud­son, wood­worker Glenn Poult­ney, tex­tile ar­ti­san Maria Gill­gren, fur­ni­ture mak­ers Paulette Robin­son and Ray Zan­der, glass en­graver Rex Lin­der, choco­late maker Pauline Tay­lor, pho­tog­ra­pher Brenda But­ler and mixed me­dia artist Sharnie Ri­ley.

“This month for our birth­day there will be party hats and dec­o­ra­tions and we are raf­fling a de­li­cious home­made cake, a voucher for an hour’s treat­ment by De La Vie at Mount Maun­ganui and a pinata filled with lol­lies.”

The fair’s founder­was ARTbop On­line Arts Magazine edi­tor Rose­mary Baluwho wanted to pro­vide a place where artists and ar­ti­sans could sell cre­ations in a re­laxed en­vi­ron­ment .

The fair is at The Black Sheep Bar & Grill, 21 Plum­mers Point Rd, Whaka­ma­rama on the last Sun­day ofeach month, 11am-3pm (and De­cem­ber 16). The birth­day cel­e­bra­tion is on Novem­ber 25. Con­tact [email protected] or the Facebook page.
