Good times on a lime scooter

Bay News - - FRONT PAGE - Will Johnston

I stand corrected. I’m big enough, and God knows old enough to admit when I’m going back on what I said and when Iwas kind of wrong.

Note the ‘kind of’ part of wrong. I’m still just a little bit of a petulant child and can’t admit full fault!

I love those Lime Scooters in Auckland! Previously I’ve openly bagged them on air, in print and on social media.

I usually try to livemylife pretty openly, being open to new experiences and by the mantra: ‘well if it’s not hurting anyone, then why not?’

This is where I thought the Lime scooters would be a bit of a fail. These things go 30km/h through the streets of central Auckland. No helmet. In the cycle lane or on a footpath. What could POSSIBLY go wrong, right?

Whocares what could go wrong (and plenty has if you look at theACCclaims I’ll bet)! They’re a blast, a great way to get around Auckland and not have to make awkward Uber conversation.

I spent three hours on them ripping round Auckland, a bit hungover.

Safety first guys. Cleared the dust out for sure! I guessmywhole point is that every now and then you really just have to not care about how you look (cos it does look kinda funny— tall men on a scooter), or if it’s the ‘safest’ choice.

If these scooters come to Mount Maunganui there is going to beCARNAGE over summer, right?

All it will take is one slightly peer pressured person in their late teens/early 20s to have a crack at taking one down the steep side of Mount Maunganui and they’ll get banned. But jeez it’ll be a good time until then!
