My summer planning list to sign off
This week was the inaugural NZME Golf Tournament at Mount Maunganui Golf Club and it was a ripper.
I realise golf chat has about as much room in your life as chatting about the best products to clean your toiletwith, so let’s just not.
My point is I’m stoked I work for a company that decided it wanted to do something for clients and friends, in the Mount sunshine, beer in hand, competition at a minimum, on a Monday.
The team I played in had a couple of clients who haven’t played for about 15 years and anotherwho plays every week. And then me. Aradio announcer who is great at talking up his golf ability and blaming literally every possible distractionwhen it doesn’t go to plan.
Love awindy day on the golf course, not because I like a challenge, but because I can blame the wind formy ball not going where it should.
The people who hadn’t played for ages had a great time, walking in the sunshine, talking a bit of trash and having a laugh.
This summer I need to get out and try a few things I either haven’t done in a while, or that are totally new.
Things off the top of my head: cook a full roast meal on the barbecue. I used to be a fat kid, so food always tops a list where possible. Surf, no matter how long it takes me to catch awave. We could be there a while.
Run the entireway up the Mount without walking— just once, then I quit, go fishing and actually catch something, and finally, sail a boat. By sail a boat I mean someone sails it and tells me what to do.
There’smy basic summer list.
Oh and try to not drink beforemidday on aweek day.
But we all have to fail at something, right?
