Chris­tine named top co-or­di­na­tor

Chris­tine Christie has been recog­nised as the Neigh­bour­hood Sup­port co­or­di­na­tor of the year.

The na­tional or­gan­i­sa­tion gave theMatua vol­un­teer the award at a re­cent event to recog­nise her work in the com­mu­nity.

“Neigh­bour­hood Sup­port is well known and sup­ported in the Western Bay of Plenty and par­tic­u­larly in Matua be­cause of Chris­tine’s ef­forts,” says chair­woman Kathy Webb. “She has worked tire­lessly over the last three years to en­sure that all streets in Matua have the op­por­tu­nity to have aNeigh­bour­hood Sup­port group in their­midst and that neigh­bours get to know one an­other.”

Matua’s pop­u­la­tion is 2113 house­holds. Over the last few years Neigh­bour­hood Sup­port cov­er­age in Matua has in­creased from 6 per cent to 31 per cent.

Chris­tine says she net­works a lot when she’s out walk­ing her dog.
