Christine named top co-ordinator
Christine Christie has been recognised as the Neighbourhood Support coordinator of the year.
The national organisation gave theMatua volunteer the award at a recent event to recognise her work in the community.
“Neighbourhood Support is well known and supported in the Western Bay of Plenty and particularly in Matua because of Christine’s efforts,” says chairwoman Kathy Webb. “She has worked tirelessly over the last three years to ensure that all streets in Matua have the opportunity to have aNeighbourhood Support group in theirmidst and that neighbours get to know one another.”
Matua’s population is 2113 households. Over the last few years Neighbourhood Support coverage in Matua has increased from 6 per cent to 31 per cent.
Christine says she networks a lot when she’s out walking her dog.
