Arrest after man shot

One person has been arrested after a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the eastern Bay of Plenty on Thursday. Senior Sergeant Richard Miller said the incident happened in a rural area east of Opo¯tiki ¯ about 5pm. The man was in a group of people building a pig trap when another man approached and allegedly fired on the group. The injured man and his friends walked about 1.5km to get help before being picked up by police and taken to a waiting ambulance. A 56-year-old local man was later arrested at a property on Hinahinanu­i Rd with the assistance of the Armed Offenders Squad.
