Doubt over dual roles

Tauranga City councillor Andrew Hollis is seeking advice from the Auditor-general's office about whether his dual roles as councillor and chairman of the Mount Maunganui Residents, Ratepayers and Retailers group present a conflict of interest. Council staff advised Hollis not to vote in a recent matter formally supported by the group, but he believed it was not a conflict.
