Spotless style in ex-builder’s showhome boasts extra features

When the word showhome is included in any introduction to a property, it usually suggests an expectation of extra features and innovative surprises. This home lives up to that anticipation – not only with its design ideas, but also the obvious talent that an interior designer’s eye brings to the table.

Designed around the sun and outdoor flow, the house enjoys an elevated position in The Lakes. This address in Mortlake Heights savours the best of the afternoon sun. A reserve and path right across the road winds down through the bush ribbon to the lake, playground and network of nature trails that meander around this leafy neighbourhood. The local café is at the bottom of the hill too, alongside the 4 Square store for added convenience, while all the big chain stores and shopping is down the road at Tauranga Crossing.

Sitting above it all, this house boasts a sunny disposition inside and out. It’s immaculate. Gardens are manicured – from lawns, to the clipped hedging and trees that enclose the home within a gorgeous setting comprising sheltered alfresco patios and cottage corners. Inside, the home unveils a tone-on-tone backdrop that is cleverly accented with feature walls in key areas. Open-plan living showcases a designer kitchen, finished in streamlined lacquered cabinetry with bulkheads to eliminated that dust trap above units. The bar-stool island is a free-space counter to allow the best of entertainment and prep – good design coming to the fore again, with easy movement to dining, lounge and passages to the front-door welcome and down to bedrooms. It’s in this living area that the first of the feature walls makes an appearance – a nice backdrop in the lounge that sets the style for the gas-fire comfort around the TV. Probably the best feature wall is saved for the master retreat. The bedhead wall is beautiful – a plush upholstered effect, coloured co-ordinated elegantly with drapes. With room for armchair comfort and sliding doors opening outside to a personal patio, it’s a lovely part of this home. Window dressings throughout also highlight the added attention to detail of this ex-builder’s showhome – white venetians and floor-length drapes in most rooms to enhance this home’s luxury and warmth.

While still presenting its showhome status, the property is also being offered with several extras. These include the stainless double fridge/freezer in the kitchen, two wall TVS, the washing machine and a few pieces of the garden art on walls.

It will be an easy home to move into - taking advantage of the pride and pleasure that went into its journey. The property goes to auction at the end of the month – unless sold prior of course. Harcourts marketing team of Kerry and Jan Mccormick are already experiencing strong demand.
