Roadworks to start Office to get upgrade

Roadworks are scheduled on State Highway 36 between Tauranga and Ngongotaha¯ next week. Drainage repair will be undertaken near Te Matai Rd Northbound between 9am and 4pm weekdays and a stop/go and 30km/h temporary speed limit will be in place during working hours.

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is upgrading its reception area at the Barkes Corner head office. The public can access the council at the same address via a temporary reception 50m away. Customers will need to walk through the carpark, following a marked path toward the back of the site.

Mall clinic offers jabs

The vaccinatio­n walk-in clinic at Tauranga Crossing will be able to vaccinate up to 500 people a day after opening this week. Its opening hours are 9am to 6pm daily. The clinic is inside the shopping centre on the ground floor and people will need to register and make an appointmen­t via the Book My Vaccine website.

Clearing the air

Monitoring of air quality shows dust pollution in Mount Maunganui is on the decline, according to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. The monitoring, from November 2018 to now, showed 16 breaches of Ministry for the Environmen­t limits in the first year; 13 in the second year; and six this year to date.

Award finalist

Te Whare Wa¯ nanga o Awanuia¯ rangi is a finalist in this year’s CIO Awards for its Robopa¯ initiative — a programme where more than 700 youth from kaupapa Ma¯ ori kura can engage in science, technology, engineerin­g and maths, through a te ao Ma¯ ori lens. The programme is expected to be taken to 24 schools for 2022. The awards will be held in Auckland in November.
