Free antifoul celebrates 10 years in marine painting

-

TEN YEARS AGO successful marine painting business Gloss Boats moved from the Gulf Harbour Marina to its present location at Pier 21 in Westhaven, Auckland.

Founded in 1987 by Wayne Hurst, the business was sold to Adrien de Croy in 2001 who later purchased Westhaven business Marine Spraying. He successfully merged the two companies to create Gloss Boats Marine Spraying Specialists, which celebrated 10 years of successful operation from its Westhaven premises in November.

Using the latest paint technology and application techniques, the company offers a comprehensive marine spraying service and operate a fleet of fullyequipped vehicles for off-site projects. Its most recent large scale projects include repainting a 30.5m (100-foot) yacht, a similar sized motoryacht and a 27.5m (90-foot) sport fisher.

The company employs 17 full-time staff. It has also recently resumed operations at Gulf Harbour with a team of five specialists working to meet the increasing demand for marine spraying services at Auckland’s most northerly marine hub.

To celebrate 10 years of operation at Pier 21, Gloss Boats Marine Spraying Specialists rewarded one of its valued customers with a free antifoul and Propspeed, drawing one name from the list of customers booked in for an antifoul during its birthday month.

The winner was David Nelson (above left) with Operations Manager David Lourie. Nelson owns the 48-foot Don Senior launch Rondavous and has been a Gloss Boats Marine Spraying Specialists customer for the last 10 years.
