TARARUA COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES 2016

-

This year some new faces have been elected to the Board of Trustees at Tararua College and some existing ones have continued on to complete policies that were in progress following the election.

The BOT team has specialist skills and passions to bring together. They have finance skills, health and safety experience, community involvement, interests in sport and cultural activities and a desire to see the best in our young people. When combined with great communication, energy and enthusiasm there is a combination that will support the teachers and staff and make Tararua College the best it can be.

A constantly changing community environment and education sector means that there are always new challenges and exciting opportunities just around the corner. The BOT team is looking forward to facing these challenges head on and helping direct the College forward. They are looking to support the college in lifting its profile to position Tararua College as the school of choice for the community.

Some recent achievements at the College have been cause for celebration and have created a buzz around the College that is a pleasure to see. The recent production, Sixty Five Roses was a credit to the entire College and the implications of such a successful event are still being felt throughout the classes.

More recently Tararua claimed victory in the sports exchange with Kuranui College. This sports day included rugby, hockey and football between the two colleges and Tararua played fantastically and showed wonderful sportsmanship and were the overall winners on the day.

They have students continuously extending themselves, presenting themselves to the community in their fields of academia, sports, drama, dance and culturally. Many of them go on to represent our region nationally, or our country internationally. We celebrate and acknowledge every achievement.

Continuing on with our celebration of all that is good in our College, your BOT is holding a TC Community Chat. This will be held on September 6 at 6pm in the school cafe. Food will be provided and then we will have a discussion following the supper. This is open to all Tararua College families, and also the wider community. There will be supervision for your younger children in the hope that this evening will be accessible to all. This is an opportunity to meet the new board and make comments and suggestions. This is your time to help us shape the future of Tararua College, to give us feedback on what is working well, what could be improved, and opinions on uniform and technology use.

We’d love to see you there, but if you can’t make it and you have something you would like to discuss, the BOT are always happy to listen.
