Award win for commercial tyre sales

To hear their company Dannevirke Tyres 2004 Ltd had won a Bridgestone Outstanding Commercial Sales for 2016 award for truck tyre sales was a huge shock to its team.
To also get an invitation for the owners John and Wendy Phillips to attend the annual Bridgestone Dealers Conference this year in Beijing to receive it was also very humbling for the couple.
Dannevirke Tyres 2004 Ltd started 13 years ago when John bought out Maitlin Williams. He says it has been an interesting journey as the Bridgestone tyre agents.
In the last five years John has employed twostaff, Chris Anderson and Matt Chapman, who have become part of a team.
Operating a 24/7 callout service, two fleet vehicles are often out on the road or farm helping solve a tyre problem, serving from Eketahuna to Takapau. They are especially flat out in the sowing and harvesting seasons when farmer and contractor time is precious.
Chris and Matt also spend the weekendschecking the trucking fleet’s tyres and replacing them so that when the drivers hit the road on Monday morning they are well shod.
John and Wendy were presented the award at a function, covering Bridgestone, Firestone and Bandag Tyres on March 15. They also had the opportunity in their five-day stay to visit the Great Wall of China, a 5.30am raising of the flag in Tiananmen Square and a tour of the Forbidden City.
While selling truck tyres is a big part of the business for Dannevirke Tyres, serving the local Dannevirke residents is also important.
Recently it donated a free tyre for the Community Vehicle.
