Joseph, who turns 16 next month, was included in the camp after being picked for the Hurricanes U16 tournament team while playing for Manawatu at the 2017 Hurricanes U16 Rugby Tournament held in Wanganui during the first week of the school holidays.

The team finished third behind Wellington and Hawke’s Bay.

Two Manawatu players were selected in the tournament team, with TK Howden, Feilding High School, also picked.

Joseph also won a Hurricanes playing jersey for being the best and most helpful Manawatu team member off the field during the tournament.

He is a Year 11 student at Manukura school in Palmerston North.

He played for the school 1st XV this year, winning the Manawatu Premier 1 College Rugby competition with his team.

He played loosehead prop for most of the season, but can also switch to hooker and played both at the Hurricanes Tournament. He also plays rugby league for Manukura, winning the Manawatu and Central Regions U17 competitions with the team this year.
