The Festival of Adult Learning is held during the first week of September every year across the country.

And here in the Tararua District we showcase what Adult Learning opportunities are available in our district for those interested in learning and celebrate those who have completed learning or who provide it.

Have you ever wanted to learn to paint? Interested in art? Now is your chance see if it is for you. The Art Society are holding their club day on Tuesday September 4, from 10am to noon at 30 McPhee Street, Dannevirke. From 12.30pm to 2.30pm there will be a class run at the same venue for everyone.

On Wednesday 5 September from 10am to 2pm the Manawarangi Open Day is at McPhee Street. Ever wanted to know what Manawarangi does, or could offer you? This is your chance to have a look.

On Wednesday, at the Tararua Library branches, the annual Trivia Quiz is running.

If you haven’t registered, do so by 31 August. This fun night is run simultaneously at all four branches in Dannevirke, Woodville, Pahiatua and Eket¯ahuna. There are prizes for the top team at all towns, fancy dress, and the coveted trophy for Top Team across the whole District.

Thursday is Expo Day at The Hub, Gordon Street, Dannevirke — your opportunity to check out what is available in the Tararua District for Adult Learners.

At noon the Adult Learning Awards will be presented.

There are nominees for Outstanding Adult Learner and Exceptional Educator. The awards ceremony is always a special moment in the week. It allows Manawarangi to take the time to acknowledge the time, energy and drive that those embarking adult learning undertake and to thank tutors who have made a difference to someone’s life.

Take the time this week to investigate some of the opportunities available to you. Manawarangi looks forward to seeing you at one of the events.
