From Your Mayor
Tena koutou s greetings to you all.
A health hui in Dannevirke last month attracted more than 80 people to engage in a much-needed conversation about the future health needs of Tararua residents.
The speakers wonderfully set the scene and helped participants fully grasp the outlook for our district as we work within the current health framework.
Having listened to the pwhyq, we were asked to question how we might tweak or provide a shift in delivery to reduce the appalling statistics presented on the day and in published health reports.
As usual, one day was not enough time to create a sustainable path for the future and it is through these ongoing conversations that solutions will develop.
Another hui is in the pipeline for early next year, in the meantime work will begin to understand more of the identified priorities.
Paymark Insights is one of the ways council identifies the way residents and visitors spend money in our district.
It is exciting to see data showing increased spending and our town upgrades and community projects certainly have an impact both socially and economically.
Eketahunaos Chorus Building Project pArt in the Bushq, was announced as a finalist for the Community Group Award in this yearos Keep New Zealand Beautiful Awards. Congratulations and good luck.
Planning for Pahiatuaos upgrade project is progressing well and positive impacts will come out of this.
In councilos ten-year plan, Norsewood and Pongaroa were identified for revitilisation and we look forward to working with these communities when consultation starts.
Noho ora mai s all the best,
Tracey Collis
