En­thu­si­as­tic play­ers turn out for team


Un­der 6s were a young and en­er­getic team this year, ar­riv­ing at train­ing and games every week with a lot of en­thu­si­asm.

Coached by Be­van White and Lance Duffy, the kids learned some great new skills, many play­ers in their first sea­son of rugby. Great stuff rip­pas.

Best At­tack Player U6: Luke McNa­mara. Best De­fence Player U6: An­gus Man­son. Most Im­proved U6: Mack Duffy. Sports­man­ship U6: Camp­bell MacKi­sack.

Un­der 8s were strug­gling to field a team at the be­gin­ning of the sea­son. A cou­ple of rip­pas moved up to play above their grade and fill the team. Ja­son Rankin, Si­mon Hull and Adrian Lochhead all stepped up to fill the coach­ing role. The team quickly moved from strength to strength work­ing hard, learn­ing to tackle well and mak­ing great runs down the field. Un­der 8s ended the sea­son win­ning the ma­jor­ity of their games.

Un­der 10’s had a solid sea­son of rugby with some tough com­pe­ti­tion. Many of the kids have played pre­vi­ous sea­sons to­gether which put them in a great po­si­tion, mesh­ing well as a team. Coached by Hamish Monk and Scott Somerville, the team fin­ished third over­all in there grade. Well done team.

Best For­ward U10: Jimmy Somerville. Best Back U10: Eden Nei­oti. Most Im­proved U10: Lo­gan Atkin­son. Most Promis­ing U10: Paice Mitchell- Hopa.

Un­der 11’s joined forces this year with the East Coast club. Our seven play­ers head­ing down there and form­ing Eke/Coast team. Mike Hig­in­bot­tom and Richard San­dall coached the team right into the semi fi­nals. What a fan­tas­tic re­sult for the play­ers who worked hard all sea­son and played very well to­gether.

Un­der 13s had many kids off to col­lege which left four boys re­main­ing this sea­son. Three play­ing for Marist and com­ing away with top po­si­tion and tak­ing home the Waibush un­der 13 shield. Thanks to Marist and coach Sam Pierce.
