First bowl launched for Pahiatua opening day

Bush Telegraph - - NEWS - By CLIVE SNOW Club Captain at PBC

Pahiatua Bowling Club had a great Opening Day with fine but blustery conditions.

After a welcome from President Barry Archibald the season was launched with Manawatu¯ Bowls Vice President Les Webster sending down the jack and new club patron Ron Jury the Golden Ball to commence afternoon games. A good turnout of 19 members and five prospective members played two rounds of three ball triples.

An enjoyable afternoon followed with afternoon treats for tea. The entry lists for regional competitions — Skogs, Elizabeth Walker and the Quadrangular Series — are filling fast and we expect to send strong teams to these events.

Club days will again be held on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays commencing at 1.15pm and visitors and those thinking about having a go always welcome.
