final. Delays caused the game to be played an hour and half late and the boys started slowly being down at half time 14-0. They started to fire in the second half with two tries bringing the score to 14-10 but Raukawa came back to end the match with a win 22-10.

It was such a great game and Raukawa were so impressed with the Tigers that the team and all their supporters performed a haka to show their respect.

The Dannevirke Tigers Under 13s Tama team ended the tournament coming third overall, which was a great achievement for the boys, knocking off many of the big name teams. We had so much positive feedback from NZMRL and from many of the other teams.

This was the Under 13s second year attending this Teina Tournament and it will be back again next year to compete, taking an Under 13s and 14s team.

The Team placed third overall but we also had two boys named in the NZMRL Under 13s Tama Team. Congratulations to Kahn Mason and Josiah Johnson.

This year from the two NZMRL Tournaments we have attended, we have had six Dannevirke Tigers Players making different New Zealand Ma¯ ori Rugby League tournament teams.

From the Rangatahi Tournament held Queen’s Birthday Weekend, Thomas Lilo made the Under 15s NZMRL Tama Team.

Paris Paul, Billy Jean Nolan and Mihingano all made the NZMRL Under 17s Kotiro Team.

NZMRL Tournament is a great pathway for those keen on the sport of Rugby League. The tournaments are getting bigger and bigger every year.
