Spud in a bucket contest on again

Bush Telegraph - - EXPLORE PAHIATUA - By STEVE CARLE´

The Spud in a Bucket competition is back on.

Collect your free seed spuds and bucket from Help-n-Hand at 42 Main Street, Pahiatua between November 1-8.

Weigh-in will be on Saturday February 9 with age group and novelty prizes.

Despite the total hosing ban last year, coupled with unpredictable weather, people made the most of it with the Emmerson family saying they used recycled bath water to water their potatoes.

This proved to be a winning method with Mark and Ryan gaining awards on the day.

This event is a great way for families to engage in the community and spend quality time as a family while passing on basic life skills to their children.

A good example was to see three generations from the Moynihan family supporting each other with their entries.
