Weaner bull prices steady

Good, con­sis­tent prices for a yard­ing of 426 weaner dairy stock at the lat­est Dan­nevirke/ Pahiatua sale re­flected sta­bil­ity in the mar­ket, good for both sell­ers and buy­ers.

Num­bers were down on the first sale of the sea­son but keen lo­cal in­ter­est meant prices for the 250+ Friesian weaner bulls in the mar­ket were con­sis­tently over the $500/head mark. The top price of $555 went to Van Asch Farm­ing. Friesian bull prices were higher than other mar­kets in the Manawatu¯ .

Beef X bulls were fewer in num­ber (70) but bid­ding for the best had a top price of $640/head and a range from $550-600 for the rest with medium qual­ity stock all ex­ceed­ing $500.

Heifers were con­sis­tently in the $450-515 range for qual­ity stock.

The next and fi­nal sale of dairy beef wean­ers be­fore Christ­mas is De­cem­ber 11.

Some of the strong yard­ing of Friesian weaner bulls at the Dan­nevirke and Pahiatua Dairy Beef sale Tues­day Novem­ber 20.

These pure-bred short­horn weaner bulls from Four­ways Farm went for $520/head.

These Here­ford X weaner bulls from Pahiatua reached $510/head.

These white-faced Friesian X bulls from Hoggy’s Farm­ing reached $550/head.
