Weaner bull prices steady
Good, consistent prices for a yarding of 426 weaner dairy stock at the latest Dannevirke/ Pahiatua sale reflected stability in the market, good for both sellers and buyers.
Numbers were down on the first sale of the season but keen local interest meant prices for the 250+ Friesian weaner bulls in the market were consistently over the $500/head mark. The top price of $555 went to Van Asch Farming. Friesian bull prices were higher than other markets in the Manawatu¯ .
Beef X bulls were fewer in number (70) but bidding for the best had a top price of $640/head and a range from $550-600 for the rest with medium quality stock all exceeding $500.
Heifers were consistently in the $450-515 range for quality stock.
The next and final sale of dairy beef weaners before Christmas is December 11.
