Flowers festooned the Papatawa Hall on Monday November 19 when the Papatawa Garden Club held its annual rose show.

While the official title was rose show there were blooms of every type, and the champion bloom was actually a gladioli grown by Shirley Boyden.

There were orchids, poppies, gladioli, rhododendrons, irises, red hot pokers and added to the display were decorative gardens and other floral features.

These did not take away from the roses which reflected a good growing season despite the recent wind.

Dawn Smith grew the Champion Rose, which won best Decorative Bloom and Best Three Blooms as well.

She won the prize for most points overall.
