-

Currently screening at the Regent in Pahiatua are two inspiring documentaries from the recent NZ International Film Festival.

The Song Keepers focuses on a group of four generations of women who make up the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir. With their charismatic conductor, the choir embarks on an historical tour of Germany to take back the old hymns brought to their greatgrandparents 140 years ago by German Lutheran missionaries. Together these women take their music and stories of cultural survival, identity and cross-cultural collaboration to the world.

Also currently screening is the heart-warming “dogumentary” Pick Of The Litter which follows a litter of five puppies from the moment they’re born and begin their quest to become Guide Dogs for the Blind, the ultimate canine career. Cameras follow these pups through a two-year odyssey as they train to become dogs whose ultimate responsibility is to protect their blind partners.

If you’re looking for sci-fi fantasy-action there are two spectacular action movies opening this week. 2.0 (Two Point Zero) is an Indian blockbuster in which a mysterious force is causing mobile phones to fly into the air causing chaos throughout the country.
